How to Create Invitations to Download
- 1). Establish the theme as well as the degree of formality of the event. For instance, if adopting a Western theme opt for a "wanted poster" type of invitation. Include images of cowboy hats and boots to highlight the theme of the occasion.
- 2). Compare various design options provided by websites that specialize in downloadable invitation designs and templates to find one that suits your needs. For example, some websites offer themed templates for wedding, birthday parties and other social events, while other websites allow you to create your own template for download using design tools provided or you can download a blank template and add your own graphics and images. Some websites charge a fee for downloading templates while other offer templates for free.
- 3). Download the printable invitation template. Add the graphics and design elements using your graphics software to highlight the theme of the occasion and complete the design of your invitation.
- 4). Choose the proper wording for your invitation. You may opt for the standard lines of who, what, when, where and why. Add the wording to your design.
- 5). Measure card stock and adjust the print setting. Measure the card stock you are going to print your invitations on to make sure the paper setting and the card stock measurements match. You may have to adjust your design or printer settings to make sure the design will print properly onto your card stock.
- 6). Run a test print. Cut a plain piece of white paper to the same size of your card stock and print a test of your invitation on the white paper. Assess the test invitation to make sure it looks the way you want the invitation to appear. Also, proofread the text to make sure everything is spelled correctly and all the information is provided in the invitation copy. Make any necessary adjustments.
- 7). Print invitations. Print the required number of invitations, feeding one piece of card stock into your printer at a time to avoid paper jams and printing errors.
