    Identification

    • The Compaq 6820s weighed 6.5 pounds. Onboard power was provided by a six-cell, 65WHr lithium-ion battery. External power was provided by a 90-watt AC adapter. The computer featured a full-sized keyboard with a numeric keypad and an integrated touchpad pointing device with scroll zone technology. The 6820s came bundled with the Microsoft Windows Vista operating system.

    Processor, Memory, Storage

    • The 6820s was built around the Mobile Intel PM965 chipset. The CPU in the 6820s was either the Intel Celeron processor or the Intel Core 2 Duo processor, depending on the version of the laptop chosen. Celeron processors were available clocked at 2.0 GHz with a 533 MHz front-side bus and 1 MB of L2 cache memory. Core 2 Duo processors featured clock speeds of between 1.6 GHz and 2.4 GHz. Core 2 Duo processors also featured 800 MHz front-side bus speeds and between 2 MB and 4 MB of L2 cache. For memory, base versions of the Compaq 6820s were equipped with 1GB of 667 MHz DDR2 RAM, upgradeable to a maximum of 4 GB. For storage, the 6820s came standard with a 120 GB hard drive, upgradeable to a maximum of 250 GB at the time of purchase.

    Display and Multimedia

    • The Compaq 6820s featured a 17.0-inch WXGA Plus display screen with a native resolution of 1440x900 pixels. Graphics processing was handled by the ATI Mobility Radeon X1350 graphics card. The Radeon X1350 offered 128MB of discrete video memory. Audio was handled by an integrated high-definition audio card. The Compaq 6820s also included a built-in SuperMulti dual-layer combination DVD reader and CD writer drive with LightScribe technology.

    Connectivity and Expansion

    • The 6820s offered users three ways to connect to the Internet or a local area network (LAN). The first option was a 56K data and fax modem, the second was an integrated 10/100 Intel Fast Ethernet controller, and the third was an integrated Intel PRO 802.11a/b/g/n wireless card. The laptop also featured Bluetooth 2.0 functionality. Additional connections available on the 6820s included one Express Card sot, one Secure Digital memory card slot, three USB 2.0 ports, one 15-pin VGA monitor port, one stereo microphone input and one combination headphone and audio output.
