The capital of Western Australia is the most isolated city in the world. The other nearest major city is Adelaide, almost three thousand miles away. Perth has a unique character of its isolation. Not so long ago the city still belonged to the outback, but Perth has in recent years become a modern city.

With about one and a half million inhabitants is the economic heart of Perth Western Australia. But the bustle of the city center is easy to escape in the parks along the Swan River or in one of the suburbs of Perth.

Black swans river


The Indian Ocean is never far away in Perth. Even in the center of town you can smell the sea. The breeze brings the salty air into the city on the Swan River, Perth which was founded in 1829. The river takes its name from the black swans that nest along the water.

The Swan River determines the face of Perth. On its banks are the many parks why the city is so famous. The townspeople come together to enjoy the Mediterranean climate: Perth has the most sunshine of Australia.

The beautiful parks like Kings Park and Botanical Gardens is located in the center of the city. Not far from there, in the Northbridge area exchange modern clubs and trendy cafes old Australian pubs off.

Meets the modern metropolis is the old village. The horse racing on television that echo in the old-fashioned pubs are drowned out by the sounds from the kitchen of Vietnamese, Chinese and Thai restaurants.

The Cappuccino Strip


Like all Australian cities, Perth is a true immigrant city. All these new Australians took their food and culture to the former Outback Village. In the coastal towns is all about eating and drinking. Fremantle, a town about twenty kilometers from Perth, also called "Little Italy."

The main street of Fremantle has not the nickname 'The Cappuccino Strip. " On a terrace, sunglasses, you order an espresso. Imagine yourself in Italy. You then flock to the many workshops and book fairs in the shade of old warehouses.

Cannabis plantation in prison


The Fremantle Prison is no longer in use and opens the gates to visitors daily. Former jailers have been transformed into guides and give tours of the building.

In prison, the interesting anecdotes about foreign prisoners never disappeared. The guides tell the story of how the prisoners turned the area to weed the vegetable garden plantation with barely disguised pleasure. Impressive is also an Aboriginal prisoner's cell. The man missed the Outback terrible and carved the wooden walls of his cell into a beautiful relief of the nature he so missed.

Sunday Sessions


Perth is blessed with some of the most beautiful beaches in Australia. From the center you within half an hour in the suburbs Cottesloe and Scarborough. Long, wide sandy beaches, descending in the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. Scarborough is traditionally one of the most beautiful beaches, but some believe that the beach loses its beauty through the crowds.

Cottesloe Beach is quieter. It is located in a stylish suburb, where large houses hidden among the pine trees. On Sunday, you'll not only for the beach. Perth is famous for its Sunday Sessions. Cottesloe is the centerpiece of this tradition that the weekend ends with a feast in the open air. It has never been empty your glass.
