Kenmore 90 Plus Series Dryer Troubleshooting
- 1). Check the power cord -- make sure it's still in an electrical outlet. The cord is easily jogged or vibrated loose during spin cycles. The electrical outlet must be switched on, if possible, and able to provide electricity. Ensure the fuse or breaker protecting the dryer's electrical circuit is still active. Only use time-delay fuses.
- 2). Check you programmed the dryer correctly after loading your clothes. Make sure the cycle selector dial is aligned with a drying cycle and you have pressed the "Start" button. The dryer won't start until the "Start" button is pressed, or sometimes held, for several seconds.
- 3). Check that the dryer door is completely closed. Clothes can easily flop down and hold the door open. Move all clothes to the back of the drum and push the door until it clicks closed. Kenmore dryers won't start until the door is closed for safety reasons.
- 4). Reduce the size of the load -- it could be too heavy for the dryer to turn. You Kenmore dryer only operates when the weight of the clothes in the drum is below the built-in weight limit, preventing damage to the motor and drum during spinning. Dry heavy items separately from the main load.
- 5). Empty the lint trap and check the exhaust ducting for blockages. The lint trap, when full, restricts air from moving freely inside the dryer. Lift the lint screen out the top of the dryer, wipe lint into the garbage and return to the screen to its slot. Run the dryer empty and head outside where the dryer exhaust exits your house. Check the metal exhaust at the back of the dryer for crushes, kinks or blockages if no air is venting outside.
