    • 1). Wash the Remy wig with a shampoo created for human hair. Do not apply a conditioner or any type of styling product to the clean wig. Let the wig air-dry for a minimum of 24 hours before dying.

    • 2). Cover the top of the Styrofoam mannequin head with the Remy wig. Secure the wig to the mannequin head with T-pins. Comb through the wig hair with a wide-tooth comb. Gently remove any knots or tangles.

    • 3). Remove the contents of the home professional hair dye box. Combine the dye and color developer in a plastic bowl according to the manufacturer's directions. Open a window for ventilation and put on gloves.

    • 4). Apply the dye color to the Remy wig with the hair color brush. Ensure that all the strands of hair are covered, from root to tip, in dye. Avoid applying dye directly to the cap of the wig.

    • 5). Let the dye set on the wig hair for 20 minutes. Avoid over-processing which can cause drying and breakage. Remove the T-pins from the wig and grasp the cap of the wig. Rinse the wig hair in warm water until all of the excess color is removed.

    • 6). Apply after-dye conditioner to the wig hair. Leave the after-dye conditioner in the hair for the time recommended by the manufacturer. Rinse the conditioner out thoroughly and secure the wig back on the mannequin head.

    • 7). Blot the excess water from the wig with a clean towel. Comb through the Remy wig with a wide-tooth comb. Gently remove any tangles or knots. Allow the wig to air-dry or blow-dry the hair on a low setting.
