    • 1). Cut the yard of yellow felt into an oval shape by rounding the edges using the scissors. Then cut a circle in the center of one end that is large enough to be slipped over the head while wearing a sweatshirt with the hood pulled up. This will become a feathered cape that resembles bird wings and a tail when worn.

    • 2). Glue the feathers, quill side against the fabric, around the edge of the cape, with the shaft and plumes sticking outward.

    • 3). Glue the googly eyes side-by-side on the hood of the sweatshirt so that they sit just behind the opening for the face.

    • 4). Spread craft glue on the inside edge of the brim of the foam visor and adhere it around the top of the sweatshirt's hood opening. This will be the bird's beak. Allow glue to dry fully before assembling the rest of the costume.

    • 5). Put costume on by first donning the tights. Over the tights, pull on the pair of yellow sweatpants. Pull the bottoms of the sweatpants up to just under the knees. Then pull on the sweatshirt and position the hood so that the visor sits across the forehead and the eyes are on top. Then slip the cape on over the sweatshirt hood to complete the costume.
