How to Make a No-sew Fleece Hat
- 1). Measure your child's head around where you want the hat to fit. This will be the size of the hat once it's completed. Using your measuring tape, cut the fleece lengthwise from the edge to the size of your child's head, adding 2 inches for a seam allowance.
- 2). Cut the fleece 15 inches tall for a shorter fringe on top of the hat, or 18 inches for a bigger fringe on the top of the hat. Cut the fleece lengthwise back to the edge. You will have a long rectangle.
- 3). Use the hot glue gun to squeeze a thick strip of glue onto the edge of the hat on the short end, about 1/2 an inch in from the edge. Wrap the fleece around once, so the other short end meets the glue and press the ends together. Holding the fleece open, you will now have a cylinder.
- 4). Cut a small strip of fleece off of the remaining fleece about 1 inch wide and 6 to 8 inches long. Squeeze the top of the hat together and tie the fleece strip around it, about 4 inches from the top of the cylinder. Tie a knot to secure the strip on the hat. Cut straight lines in the top of the hat to the fleece strip. Cut them as thick or thin as you like to create a fringe on top of the hat.
- 5). Fold the bottom of the hat up 1 inch and glue underneath the fold. Fold up again 2 to 3 inches, depending on how wide you want the brim of the hat. If you would like to add decorations or designs to your hat, add them now. Your hat is now ready to wear.
