By attending the Billboard Dance Music Summit, I was able to get a "sneak peek" at Debby Holiday's upcoming sophomore dance release called Half A Mile Away. Now don't be looking for this one just yet... It will be out in mid-November. But, after hearing Scotty K's remix, I just can't keep my feelings to myself anymore.

Listening to the original on the album (the album's title is also Half A Mile Away) I was totally taken by the emotion, heart and soul that Debby pours out via her voice.


It's one of those songs that makes you feel you are part of the actual event. It really is more like a journey that simply listening to a song.

That being said, let's take Scotty K's remix. It captures 100% of that "I am part of the song," but takes you one step further, on a journey through the dancefloor. Right from the intro, a tribal feel beat comes in, and then KICKS UP with a BIG BANG, never lets up, and only seems to get more intense with each 4 beats that pass, and the vocals which Debby re-sang just for the remix.

Like Dive!, Half a Mile Away has anthem written all over it. At one point during the song, Debby sings, "It's only love that I am offering up." Her music is definitely inspired from within with lots of love for her listeners, and it will lead to a great success I am sure. But don't let me tell you this, let your crowd decide when you give them a taste of this one on your dancefloor.
