How to Check the LP Gas Tank Level
- 1). Pour water into a pot. Place the pot on the stove burner and turn the burner on high.
- 2). Remove the pot from the stove when it comes to a boil. Turn the stove off.
- 3). Pour the water down the side of the LP gas tank. Wait about 5 seconds.
- 4). Place your hand on the tank and run it up and down. The area at which the tank turns from warm to cold to your touch is the level of propane in the tank. A line of condensation may form at the fuel level after pouring hot water on the tank. Condensation appears with a sudden change in temperature on the outside compared to the cold propane on the inside.
