    Proficiencies

    • Any nursing employer wants to know what knowledge you have that will set you apart from other applicants. Proficiencies you could include on your nursing assistant resume under "Qualifications" include understanding of pharmaceuticals, a fluidity in additional languages, statistical analysis and math. Other examples are customer service processes, OSHA standards and infection control.

    Skills

    • Skills are similar to proficiencies, but they refer to the ability to perform a specific tasks or interact with others in a certain way. A nurse assistant's skills might be the ability to lift up to a certain weight -- necessary when moving patients -- or the ability to resolve conflicts. Other skills important to nurse assistants include excellent written and verbal communication, being detail-oriented and having the ability to recognize physical signs of distress. Computer skills are also important, but if you list these, be specific about the programs you can use. For instance, don't just say "Able to use Microsoft Word." Instead, say "Able to type 75 wpm, construct graphs, tables and charts, and import and export via Microsoft Word." Try to list programs specific to the healthcare industry, or better yet, to the facility to which you're applying.

    Scores and Certifications

    • Nursing assistants usually have to pass competency tests in order to work legally. List the score you have on these tests, particularly if they are above average. Additionally, provide rankings you may have held in your nursing assistant program. Briefly list the certifications you hold and their date of assignment.

    Previous Experience or Accomplishments

    • Experience and accomplishments you should list as qualifications for a nursing assistant position include the nursing program from which you graduated, the number of years you've worked in a nursing assistant capacity, any awards you were given, and specific projects you initiated or completed with previous employers. Also include the specific areas in which you've assisted, such as geriatrics or pediatrics.

    Considerations

    • Many sample resumes for nursing assistants provide sample statements within the qualifications such as "proven ability to provide care empathetically to patients" or "good written skills." These are far too generic and could be used in any number of healthcare positions. Make these specific to you. For instance, instead of saying you've "proven" your empathetic care, say something like "Patient satisfaction response 92 percent at Facility A."
