How to Get a Stain Out of a Polyester Comforter
- 1). Soak up any non-oil based liquid, such as milk or juice, with a dry paper towel or clean cloth. Sprinkle baby powder, cornstarch or another oil-absorbing product on a grease stain.
- 2). Remove any cornstarch or powder. Dip a cloth into warm water and apply it to the stain to saturate the polyester fabric. Apply a small amount gentle dishwashing liquid to the stain and work it into the fabric using a damp cloth. Use a grease-fighting detergent if the stain is oil-based.
- 3). Wash the polyester comforter in a washing machine set on a permanent press cycle. Use warm water if the fabric has an oil-based stain, and cold water for all other types of stains.
- 4). Hang the clean comforter on a line and allow it to air-dry until you know if the stain is removed or not; the heat from a dryer may set hard-to-remove stains into the polyester fabric.
