Hanukkah 2011 - Guide to LGBT Events in NYC
Hanukkah (or Chanukah, if you prefer), the Jewish Festival of Lights, runs from December 21st through 28th in 2011, and accordingly these gatherings in New York City will be dedicated to helping LGBT people celebrate the holiday.
The Center presents its yearly Hanukkah celebration, inviting you to "light your inner menorah." Join more than 200 members of the local LGBT Jewish community (and their families, friends, and allies) for an evening of music, dancing, drinking, and holiday treats.
When: Thursday, December 22, 2011, 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: The LGBT Community Center, 208 West 13th Street, just west of Seventh Avenue
Admission: $10 (no pre-registration required)
Congregation Beit Simchat Torah (or CBST), the city's LGBT synagogue, will celebrate Hanukkah at its main weekly Friday Kabbalat Shabbat service, held at its Chelsea sanctuary. A special Shabbat Hannukah dinner will follow, which is open to all but requires pre-registration (seating is limited). Other Chanukah events include a Jewish baking class and latke parties on December 18.
