How to Get to the Drain Hose on a Kenmore Elite

    • 1). Turn off the water supply to the dishwasher. Reach under your kitchen sink and turn the knob on the main water supply line clockwise to shut it off. Open the taps to your sink to drain any water remaining in the line. Unplug the dishwasher or (if hardwired to the house electricity) turn off the power to the room at the fuse box.

    • 2). Remove the screws in the brackets at the top of the dishwasher that hold it in place to the bottom of the countertop with a Phillips head screwdriver.

    • 3). Tip the dishwasher up enough to place an appliance slide pad under each foot of the dishwasher. An appliance slide pad is a small rubber and felt pad designed to fit under the "feet" of an appliance so you can move it easily across your floor without scratching the floor.

    • 4). Slide the Kenmore Elite out from underneath the counter. You don't have to remove it all the way; pull it three-quarters of the way out from the counter. Look on the right side of the dishwasher. Unlike most diswashers, the drain hose is not connected to the underneath of the appliance. It is located on the right side, in the center toward the bottom. You can now get to the drain hose to perform whatever maintenance or repair is necessary.
