Building Your Credit - Dos and Don"ts to a Great Credit Score

As a young man just going into college, my father wanted to help me as much as he could.
As it turned out he helped me in ways I didn't even realize until I was much older.
My graduation gift from high school was a new computer, something I would desperately need before beginning college in the fall.
My father financed the computer, but what I was not aware of was that the computer was actually in my name.
What he was doing was simple yet important for me.
I had a part time job, which I later found out counted as established income.
After that, I also found out that my cell phone was put into my name.
What my father was doing was building my credit.
He was still paying the bills, my job was to only pay for my gas, food, and tuition, but because he was putting the bills in my name, my credit was being built.
This helped me tremendously over the next several years when I needed to get my first credit card.
I was approved quickly, and given a reasonable interest rate because I had established bills that were paid on time, and established income.
That is the most important factor a bank looks at.
Some of my friends were not so lucky, and had low scores because they were late on bills, or just because they were not fully aware of how the system worked.
It is very important that you learn how to get and keep a good score.
For those of you who need to hit the restart button when it comes to your score, you can look into credit repair.
Credit repair companies can fix your score in a matter of weeks, and give you the second chance you want, and really need, its worth your time.
