More About Albert Crews:

Albert has one of the most unusual stories in the history of "The Big Break." The first thing you notice about him is an awkward looking, but highly effective, cross-handed grip where his right hand is positioned on top of the left when gripping a club. It's a natural grip he developed as a child. Albert is completely self-taught and is confident in his unusual swing.

After focusing on football in high school, he was reintroduced to the game by his brother-in-law when he was 25. He has regularly taken 24-hour Greyhound bus trips and hitch-hiked to mini-tour events. However difficult the travel, he has won several tournaments. Never enjoying the luxury of playing golf full time due to his job and family commitments, he plays mini-tour events when he can.

In 2005, he experienced the highpoint of his career when he qualified for the U.S. Senior Open by making birdie on the final hole to force a playoff and then proceeded to win the playoff. He fired 72-76 to miss the cut by three shots. However, he is very proud of qualifying and wears a medallion from the tournament around his neck.

Albert is also an associate minister at the First Ebenezer Baptist Church in Homer, La.
