Getting a kitten can be one of the most exciting times.
Most people think that it won't be that hard and that they don't need to get prepared.
There are many things you should do to get your home ready for a kitten.
Here is a list of what you will need to buy and what you will need to do to get ready.
1.
Make sure you have a designated spot for your kitten.
Think about keeping the kitten in one room of the house for the first few days.
2.
Make sure you have food bowls and water bowls 3.
Make sure you have kitten food and if you decide to change their diet from what they were eating before you will need to wean them off.
You will need to purchase a small amount of the cat food they are use to and slowly mix more and more of the food you are switching them to in with it.
This will prevent diarrhea and digestive problems for your kitten.
4.
Make sure that the area you are keeping your kitten is well ventilated and warm.
Remember they are use to being cuddled up with their litter mates for warmth.
5.
Getting a cat bed or blanket will help make the kitten feel safe and comforted as well.
6.
Make sure that there are no chemicals or plastic bags or anything you wouldn't want a human baby to consume around.
7.
Remember if it is dangerous to a human baby it will be dangerous for your kitten.
8.
Make sure to keep all toilets lids down.
Kittens are very curious by nature and they may want to "explore" the toilet and once a kitten falls in they probably won't be able to get themselves out and they may drown.
9.
Be sure to have plenty of toys laying around for your kitten.
If you don't have toys they will find things to make into toys like your shoes, curtains and almost everything else.
So if you have things that you would rather not have scratch up be sure to put them up and get plenty of things the kitten is allowed to play with.
10.
Make sure to have a suitable liter box and liter.
Most liter boxes are for adult cats and can be much too high for a kitten to climb over.
If the kitten can't get into the litter box they probably won't use it.
Look for a liter box that has short walls for the kitten.
Also be sure to use cat litter that is grainier this will prevent it from sticking to your kitten.
