    Camp Sign

    • 1). Take a weathered wooden board and choose which side you would like to use for your camp sign. Clean the front surface off with a moistened cloth.

    • 2). Lay out the name of the camp using thin twigs to write the lettering. Once the twigs are arranged the way you want them, glue them down using a hot glue gun.

    • 3). Decorate around the name of the camp using bits of nature. Glue your bits of nature in place. Put your sign near an entrance way to your camp or beside your tent.

    Scrapbook or Journal

    • 1). Collect a variety of leaves of different shapes, sizes and species. Place a leaf under a piece of paper. Strip a crayon of its labeling. Put the crayon horizontally on the page and rub it over the leaf. A leaf print should appear on the paper. One by one put all the leaves under a piece of paper and rub crayon over them. Use different colors of crayon to capture the leaf imprints.

    • 2). Cut out your leaves and arrange them over a note book or binder as a background. When the leaf imprints are arranged the way you want them, paste them to the binder or book using white glue around the edge of the paper leaf and through the middle. Cut out lettering to label your binder or book with construction paper. Add stickers for decoration.

    • 3). Using a sealer- finisher glossy glue (like Mod Podge), paint over the surface of the binder or book using a thick paint brush and let it dry. Use the book or binder as a scrapbook or journal to record you camping experiences.

    Inuksuks

    • 1). Find a location to create an Inuksuk. According to Native legends, Inuksuks are considered to be totems of protection so build your Inuksuks in an area where it can protect you or your camp. Some examples of locations to build your Inuksuks are at camp outlook posts, entrance ways to the camp, on trails as markers or beside your tents.

    • 2). Take a variety of rocks and practice balancing them on top of one another. Notice which rocks balance well with other rocks you have collected. Rocks with flat surfaces will be easier to stack and balance.

    • 3). Stack your rocks in the shape of an Inuksuk, constructing it to look like a person with two feet as the base, a body in the middle, arms stretched out and a head on top. To make an Inuksuk you can carry with you, find smaller rocks and glue them together using a hot glue gun.
