An anxiety attack is a scary and disturbing condition that interrupts your life and can lead to depression, isolation, and even more fear.
An anxiety attack is defined by an immediate onset of intense fear that grows out of control within a short period of time and dissipates within a few minutes.

The panic cycle involves three behaviors.
First, you have a trigger which can be a place, situation, emotion, physical sensation, smell, or something else.
This trigger leads to a perceived danger or increased anxiety.
Once this happens, your body goes immediately into a defense mechanism called the fight or flight response.
This response is why you suddenly feel your heart race, you breath harder, and feel like you must "get away.
" This response mechanism is basically tripping up in your body forcing you to feel as though you are in danger when really you are not.
The attack itself can be so overwhelming that some people feel as though they are experiencing a heart attack.
The fear of getting a panic attack is often enough of a trigger to actually induce one.
The first step in controlling your panic attacks is learning what triggers them.
Once you recognize the triggers, you can take steps to avoid them or do something that will help your body relax before the attack happens.
Triggers can be from your work, family situation, fear of public places, anxiety about money, anxiety about an upcoming exam at school, among other things.
You can treat your attacks with medicine but this is not always effective and many medications are habit forming and addictive.
You can learn to control your attacks and prevent them with behavior modification therapies and simple strategies like meditation.
