How to Refill an HP 44 Ink Cartridge
- 1). Purchase an ink refill kit for the HP44 print cartridge. Remove the syringe and the ink from the package and start filling the syringe. It is a good idea to stand over the sink when filling the syringe in case any ink is spilled. If you do spill any ink be sure to clean it up right away--the ink will stain if allowed to set.
- 2). Locate the small hole in the top of the cartridge near the label and carefully enlage it with a small needle. Then slowly push the needle from the refill syringe into the cartridge until you feel it reach the bottom. Filling the cartridge from the bottom is the best way to prevent air bubbles from forming.
- 3). Fill the ink cartridge slowly. If you fill the cartridge too quickly the ink can foam up and come out through the hole. It is best to work slowly and methodically when refilling your HP 44 cartridge.
- 4). Remove the syringe from the refilled ink cartridge and carefully wipe away any spilled ink. It is not necessary to seal up the hole you made for the syringe--these are breather holes for the cartrdge.
- 5). Wipe any remaining ink from the cartridge one last time, then insert the cartridge into the printer. Print a test page to make sure the refilled cartridge is producing quality prints.
