Is a Mini Air Conditioner Right For Your Space (And Budget)?

Mini air conditioners really do add quite a bit of flexibility (not to mention comfort) to your living space, or work space, for that matter.
It seems that most people would, if given the choice, prefer central air conditioning, and with good reason.
Central air is more consistent throughout a home, reaches more places in a home, is convenient, and is usually pretty quiet.
But that might not be an option for anyone.
If you own an old home that would be very expensive to convert to central air (especially if you live someplace where you'd only use it for a few weeks or months out of the year), the investment is probably not worth it.
Or it just may not be financially feasible, even if it were worth it.
Another group of people who choose mini air conditioners are renters.
When you do not own the space where you live, you don't have the permission (or really, the incentive) to do a major upgrade like central air conditioning.
The solution: a mini air conditioner (or two, or three).
These small sized air conditioners do not have the power to cool an entire house, but they are not intended to.
Used and placed wisely, they can make great strides in helping you control the temperature of either your whole apartment, or the areas in your home that you use most often.
Mini air conditioners come in a few different styles and models, and which you pick will depend on what you're looking for.
The classic mini-air conditioner is the window-mounted model.
This is a single-unit machine designed for cooling small spaces, and it relies on having the cooling mechanism outside (where it can pull in the air it's cooling, as well as drip any extra moisture it extracts while working), with the vent and controls inside.
Still, other designs help, too, such as the split air conditioner, which is usually wall-mounted and has a smaller interior foot print (it's connected to the outside part via tubing inside the wall).
And most all mini air conditioners have remote controls for easy usage, and easy on-off if you are leaving the room for awhile.
