How to Get Bubbles Out of Vinyl

    • 1). Wipe the area of the vinyl bubble with a clean rag to remove any dirt or debris.

    • 2). Locate the highest point of the bubble and cut a 1/2-inch notch into it with the sharp tip of a utility knife. Press down on the notched area with your hand to flatten.

    • 3). Place the roller on the center of the bubble. Roll from the center to the end of the bubble. Continue rolling until the bubble is completely flat.

    • 4). Apply the vinyl seam sealant to the 1/2-inch notch. Wait about 10 minutes for the sealant to dry and wipe the excess sealant off the sealed notch with a clean rag. The sealant will bond with the vinyl; when it is dry, the sealant will look like part of the vinyl.

    • 5). Wipe a clean rag over the freshly sealed notch and the area where the bubble was located.

    • 6). Turn the iron on high and slowly iron across the top of the clean rag. Continue to iron over the notch and the previous bubble area for one to two minutes. The heat will help to bond the sealant more. The heat also will flatten the area of the previous bubble more and prevent it from returning. This bubble-removing process works on vinyl flooring and all other types of vinyl products.
