How to Roll a Uniform Fimo Cane
- 1). Roll uniform pieces of clay. Polymer clay canes are constructed from smaller strings of clay. If these are not uniform in length and circumference, the cane will not be either. Use the palm of your hand to roll each string on a flat surface.
- 2). Cut off extra ends of the clay strings. After you have rolled uniformly round strings, line each string up and cut the ends off so that they are all the same length.
- 3). Blend the strings together in the cane so that they will not move during rolling. Blending too much will result in a cane with an unclear image. Instead, use your pinky finger to gently rub the top of each cane string into the strings on either side of itself.
- 4). Slowly roll the cane on a flat surface using the palm of your hand.
- 5). Place the cane in the freezer for 30 minutes. This will firm the cane, making it easier to cut individual beads from it. If the cane does not appear uniform when you take it out of the freezer, repeat Step 4 and re-freeze.
