How to Install a Dishwasher with Granite Countertops
- 1). Remove 3 inches from the outer casing of the power cord. Strip ½ inch off the ends of the inner wires. Wire the white wire on the power cord to the white wire on the dishwasher connection using an approved wire nut. Repeat with the black wire and the ground wire.
- 2). Install the drain hose to the drain connection on the rear of the dishwasher. Use a squeeze clamp or a screwdriver clamp to secure the hose onto the connection. Connect the other end of the drain hose to the sewer connection under the kitchen sink. Secure with another squeeze clamp or screwdriver clamp.
- 3). Wrap both ends of the small brass elbow with thread sealer. Install the elbow to the fresh water connection on the dishwasher. Connect the steel braided fresh water hose to the elbow. Install the other end of the fresh water hose to the hot water line underneath the kitchen sink.
- 4). If mounting brackets are already affixed to the top of the dishwasher, firmly grasp the mounting brackets with pliers, twist to the side and pull free from the dishwasher. Affix mounting brackets to the side of the dishwasher.
- 5). Push or roll the dishwasher under the granite counter until the front of the dishwasher door is even with the cabinet doors. Check the level on the dishwasher from front to back or side to side. Pull dishwasher out of opening. Use the adjustable leveling feet to achieve the correct height and level. When the desired adjustment is achieved, push the dishwasher back under the granite countertop. Be careful not to pinch or damage the hoses and cord while pushing the dishwasher.
- 6). Install screws into the side mounting bracket on both sides of the dishwasher. Slowly tighten down the screws.
- 7). Start the dishwasher and run a full cycle empty and without detergent. Check the water and sewer lines for any leaks. Inspect under the dishwasher for any leaks. Install the toe-kick cover to the front of the dishwasher.
