How to Repair a Moen Single-Handle Shower Faucet
- 1). Turn off your shower water. Access the valves in the wall through the panel opening behind the shower wall, or close the home's incoming water valve on your water pipe.
- 2). Pry up the small plastic tab on top of the handle and remove the small screw in the center of the handle under it with an Allen wrench. Some Moen faucets have a lever handle with the screw under the lever near the base. Simply remove this; there is no tab to take off.
- 3). Pry out the ring clip around the head of the faucet with pliers or remove the dome and cartridge nut with pliers, if your faucet does not have a clip. Pull the cartridge free of the faucet head.
- 4). Slide in the new cartridge by lining it up with the faucet head and pushing it in. Use only a cartridge designed for your model. Slip the clip over the faucet head or tighten the cartridge nut to hold it in place.
- 5). Put the handle back on and tighten the screw. If you want to replace the handle, put on a new, matching Moen faucet handle to update the appliance.
- 6). Turn the water back on.
