It was in 1947 when a goat herder stumbled upon some clay pots in a cave. He couldn't have known at the time that he had discovered one of the most amazing caches of ancient artifacts that have ever been found. By the time the excavation that followed was complete, 975 scrolls had been found.
The scrolls, along with other important artifacts, remain in Israel, but on rare occasions the items go on tour so that people around the world can see and appreciate them. The current traveling exhibit only includes 5 U.S. cities, and Boston is the 2nd to last stop.
