Kiteival Mauritius 2014

Kiteival Mauritius is a kitesurfing festival that is also celebrating its 7th birthday this year. It will take place between July 26, 2014 and August 2, 2014 around Mauritius. The event is created and organized by two Mauritians, Nico Kux and Albert d'Unienville. This will be a kiteboarding affair that is built on a unique and different concept. The races will be held in different stages so that the competitors are able to explore the beauty of the island and its lagoons.

This kitesurfing challenge is open to all water sports enthusiasts from all skills and levels – you do not need to be a champion or a title holder to participate. Anyone with even average kiteboarding skills are welcome to join. The main goal is just to have fun and enjoy the water sport with fellow kiteboarders around natural scenery.

There will be three divisions: the freestyle, wave and race challenges.

Guiding the participants will be a team of local riders. Furthermore, elite kitesurfers will be there to exhibit their awesome talent and skills and to meet and greet the competitors.

If you wish to join, there will be an entry fee of EUR200 or EUR250 if you pay after May 5, 2014. The fee will cover a Kiteival souvenir T-shirt, wearing number, lunch, non-alcoholic drinks during stages and for the safety boat.

There are documents to be submitted too: filled registration form, photocopy of identity card, payment of registration fee and signed and completed liability release documents. Minors will need the signature of their parents.

For participants, it is required to have minimum riding skills such as riding upwind easily, riding amongst other kiters and knowledge of priority rules. If a kiteboarder is causing hazard to others especially during the race will be eliminated and he/she will not be refunded. Participating kiteboarders should not claim to be of higher skill than what is actual.

Hence, on day one of the event, the participating kiteboarders will be briefed on the different routes to be followed. This will be a detailed briefing with pictures. The exact time for the beginning of each race will also be announced then and/or at least one hour before the race.

Moreover, safety procedures will be discussed and explained to ensure a fun but harmless and protected event. There will be a boat that will follow the competitors for safety purposes as well and for the photographers. The usual international safety rules will apply throughout the event.

The awards and prize giving ceremony for each of the races will then be on the end of the fantastic kiteboarding week, August 2, 2014. The winners will be given a souvenir trophy, gifts and souvenirs, free accommodation and free entry to the next edition of Kiteival.

Concerts, picnic lunches and parties will fill the island for a more entertaining and exciting event. Everyone is invited to come and see this great kiteboarding festival. Join and register now to this one of a kind event that features the best spots in the world.
