Social Media - Word of Mouse! Marketing Your Passion in the 21st Century
Well, I suppose we all knew it was coming - the second dot com era.
Many hundreds of thousands of people are making an enormous amount of money with online businesses.
Others have paid hundreds, thousands and even millions of pounds to have an online presence, in the form of a snazzy website.
Before TV and magazine advertising had squibillion dollar budgets to convince us we needed their latest thingamabob, it used to be that the best of the best hotels, restaurants, travel destinations, clothing designers etc.
, built their reputations and their fortunes from word-of-mouth advertising.
Sounds a bit elitist, I know, but it worked! Simply put, that's because any consumer would rather take the advice and recommendation of someone they know, than someone they don't.
Particularly, if the 'someone they don't' has a vested interest in telling us only the best bits about their business, product or service.
It's a trust issue...

For the first time in history, the little guy (i.

you and me), the home or community based business can advertise their goods and services (or someone else's!) for free or next to nothing - and make an absolute fortune doing it! You don't need a degree, you don't need a fortune to make a fortune, you don't need your own product and you don't need a suit and tie, a briefcase or a commute into the city.
That is not to say that this type of business and marketing is about 'getting rich quick', nor is it easy - though it is relatively simple.
It takes a bit of hard graft to learn how it works, but like anything worth knowing or doing, it takes time and effort.
Think of how many years you went to university and now you're flipping burgers to pay off that student loan? Yikes! That said though, this kind of online social networking and marketing is making millionaires in incredibly short time spans - anywhere from 6 months to 5 years.
If someone said 'learn this, do that, talk to this person, be a friend to that one, rinse and repeat, stick with it every single day for x amount of time and you WILL be a millionaire at the end of that time - wouldn't you? Honestly, who wouldn't? When I was coming up, and yes it was a long, long time ago:), if you didn't win the lottery, it took an entire 40 year career to become a millionaire.
Many, many people bought the dream, but never made it.
That dream invariably included tonnes of hard work, late nights, missed piano recitals, travelling away from home and loved ones, catering to the boss and then becoming the boss only when the old guy died.
If you were smart, you went without, invested your earnings, and if you were lucky, there was a nice retirement and maybe something left over for the kids to inherit.
Undoubtedly, some people will continue to work that way, and even climb voluntarily into an early grave from stress because they're not seeing the writing on the wall of the future! Meanwhile, the rest of the world is getting savvied up about word-of-mouse advertising, social networking and new ways of creating income.
HOW TO DO IT...

GET A MENTOR - follow the footsteps of those who have been where you want to go - they know what they're doing and have made all the mistakes FOR you.
One-to-one mentoring is best but a very good coaching programme works too! There are loads of advantages to a coaching group because mentors/millionaires are very busy people and unless you're paying a premium fee, it can be difficult to get face time with them.
Fellow members of the same coaching programme can bounce ideas off each other, thereby accelerating and enhancing their learning! 2.
FOCUS ON ONE OR TWO STRATEGIES - do NOT jump from one thing to the next to the next, maxing out both your credit card and your brain - you'll get O.
