The Gold Coast Race Track holds one of Australia's largest training centers with an estimate of 650 horses in work for the leading trainers in South East Queensland.
Gold Coast Race Track is located in South-East Queensland, just 2 kilometers or 5 minutes away from Surfers Paradise! If you will be taking the city train from Brisbane, you can easily get to the racecourse.
You can also take the free bus from Tweed Heads or take a cab for a more convenient trip to the racetrack.
Gold Coast Turf Club has been administering Gold Coast Racecourse for more than 50 years now.
It is considered Australia's busiest racecourse, having race meetings every midweek and Saturday of the week all year round.
During the 50 years, a lot of improvements have been installed which made the racecourse even more exciting and entertaining.
Gold Coast Race Track started holding races in the 1890s, when occasional public meetings were hold in the old cane paddocks of Bundall, not too far from the current GC Turf Club.
To date, regular racing here began on 15th of May 1946, when the club was named as the Southport and district Amateur Race Club.
The said club was formed on 17th of March 1946.
During that time, races were held on a sand track.
In January of the Year 1971 the Gold Coast Club began holding races every Saturday of the week, then in August the Newmarket-Gold Coast Cup was launched at the racecourse.
This event is a three-day carnival that is held on a quality grass track.
In 1974, another special event was launched, namely the Prime Minister's Cup.
The Race Track has a total circumference of 1,885 meters and a straight measurement of 400 meters long.
It holds an average of 60 race meetings every year.
GC Racecourse features a lot of facilities that everyone can enjoy.
It offers function facilities seven days a week where conferences, conventions and other special events can be held.
You can also find restaurants, bistros and snack bars in the venue, as well as licensed bars, coffee shops and even baby change rooms! There also are full tote and bookmakers facilities in GC Race Track, public and members grandstand and public and members car parking spots.
There also are eftpos and ATM facilities all over the place.
