The big day finally arrives! Here are the Winners of the 2013 Readers’ Choice Awards at Mobile Devices.

While many established companies held their Number 1 position at the Awards as well, there were also some surprises along the way, with lesser established names making their mark and emerging the winner of this year’s competition. Read on to find out if your favorite company captured the winning title in 2013.

    The Android OS was voted as the best mobile platform for app developers.

    The Android OS, initially developed by Android Inc., was bought by Google in 2005. This open source platform provides app developers the freedom to modify it as per their preferences, thereby encouraging their creative abilities to the maximum. Running very close to its rival, the mighty Apple iOS, the Android OS has emerged as one of the most widely used mobile platforms, registering a market share of 75 percent during the third quarter of 2012.

    Google Play has grabbed the first place among the various mobile app stores.

    Google Play, which was formerly referred to as the Android Market, is a digital application distribution channel for Android, solely maintained by Google. This service permits app developers to submit their apps to the market place, ranks them and presents them to users who would wish to download and use the same.

    Google Play features both free and paid apps that can be downloaded directly onto on Android or Google TV device or via the Play Store. With the merging of the Android Market and Google Music in 2012, this service was renamed Google Play.
