How to Kill Second Generation Roaches

    Baiting

    • 1). Purchase a roach gel bait that comes in a tube similar to toothpaste.

    • 2). Remove the top from the gel applicator and insert the plunger into the back of the tube. Push the plunger up until bait is ready to be released from the top.

    • 3). Insert the tip of the applicator directly into areas where roaches are hiding. Apply a thin bead 1 inch long. Repeat this procedure in all locations where roaches have been seen.

    Monitoring

    • 1). Purchase pheromones traps that list roaches as the target pest. These traps have hormones which attract the roaches and once inside, will get stuck to the glue. They have a limited capacity and should NOT be the only treatment; they should be used to monitor the effectiveness of the bait.

    • 2). Place pheromone traps in each area where you applied the gel bait and check them regularly. Either note the number of trapped roaches (if found), or replace the trap with a new one.

    • 3). Apply more bait to cracks and crevices near the pheromone traps if roaches are trapped inside them.

    • 4). Repeat the entire procedure until regular checks of the pheromone traps reveal that you are truly roach free.

    • 5). Switch to another brand of bait if roaches are not decreasing in number because they adapt to products making them ineffective.
