How to Replace Fan Blades
- 1). Turn off the electricity that powers the fan at the fuse box or circuit breaker box.
- 2). Set up the step ladder in position to allow balanced access to the fan blades. Use the locking levers on the step ladder to ensure stability.
- 3). Remove one fan blade and bracket from the flywheel, using the appropriate magnetic-tipped screwdriver. To do this, completely remove the screws in the bracket, one at a time, while supporting the fan blade. Be sure to have the step ladder correctly positioned for this step. Set the fan blade aside.
- 4). Rotate the fan manually as needed to properly position each blade, and repeat step 3 to remove all of the fan blades from the flywheel using the magnetic-tipped screwdriver.
- 5). Remove the screws holding the fan blades to their respective brackets, using the appropriate tipped screwdriver.
- 6). Line up the pre-drilled holes in one of the new blades with a fan blade bracket. Place a fiber washer onto a screw, then insert the screw through one of the holes of the blade and into the threaded bracket hole. Repeat for the remaining screws. Secure the screw with the screwdriver, taking care not to over tighten the screws. Add the brackets to the remaining blades in the same way.
- 7). Support the fan blade while lining up the bracket hole with the threaded flywheel hole. Insert and tighten the first screw snugly, using the magnetic tipped screwdriver.
- 8). Line up the second screw hole, insert the second screw and tighten both of the bracket screws securely. Take care not to over tighten the screws.
- 9). Install the remaining fan blade assemblies to the flywheel and secure all screws, taking care not to over tighten.
- 10
Restore the electrical power to the fan.
