Three Blog Post Writing Tips That Keep Your Readers Coming Back For More How does good writing transition into great writing? What makes a blog post memorable? What is it that keeps your readers coming back for more? We've all heard that "content is king.
" We've also heard that "marketing is queen.
"  While these are both true and non-negotiable, there is a third element that cannot be ignored.
A good topic that is marketed well is nothing if not delivered in a clean and winning manner.
You need style.
Keep Your Style Clean What does it mean to "keep it clean?" Does that mean that you can't or shouldn't address off-color topics or use colorful language? Not necessarily! If that's your style, then go for it.
By "keeping your style clean," I mean keep it consistent, keep it clear.
Avoid rambling sentences, leave out unnecessary thoughts and useless commentary.
In other words, give your blog post a shave and a clean shirt-- no messy blog posts here.
Get To The Point (And Stay There) Your average Joe is in a hurry, lazy, and has a short attention spam.
It's a product of living in a fast food, immediate gratification society.
You may have excellent, pertinent points hiding down at the bottom of your post but if you take too long getting there, your reader may or may not make it that far.
Some blog posts with a wider topic may actually need to be split into two (or more) blog posts.
Inside of your blog post it's often helpful to tell your reader ahead of time how many points you will be introducing or what they can expect by the end of your article.
(For example, you knew from the beginning that I would give you three writing tips, so now you know that you only have to make it through one last tip.
) Give It Polish - Proofread! Everyone has an occasional typo but a blog post riddled with grammatical and spelling errors will not only distract your reader from the point you are trying to make but it will also make you immediately appear less credible.
Writers must present themselves as educated enough to string together complete sentences and well rounded paragraphs if they want to be taken seriously.
It's incredibly important to proofread, proofread, proofread! The simplest and easiest of these three tips, proofreading is essential for taking your writing to a professional level.
I recommend using some type of software program to help catch those annoying grammatical mistakes! I personally use a browser installed toolbar that helps me correct my grammar as well as keeps my spelling checked! Find out more about this below.
Each of these three tips work together to transform a good article into a great one.
Likewise, only a few grammatical errors can quickly discredit your points and disinterest your readers.
Take a few extra minutes to complete these three steps and you'll be well on your way to writing great blog posts.
