A Lesson on How to Draw Pretty Fairies
- 1). Draw the oval-shaped head. Draw a line through the vertical center of the fairy head. Draw another line through the horizontal center of the head. Place your pencil at the place where the two lines meet. Move it down the line, so that it is halfway between the bottom of the head and the point where the lines meet. Draw a semi-circle mouth. Return your pencil to the point where the lines meet. Move your pencil to the right slightly and draw a large, almond-shaped eye. Draw a circle in the center of the eye. Draw another eye on the left side of the fairy's face.
- 2). Add pointy fairy ears. Place your pencil on the right side of the head, just below the eye. Draw a long, thin ear that is shaped like a lengthened almond. Draw another ear on the other side. Place your pencil just below the top of the head. Draw a line that curves toward the side of the head. The line should flow past the bottom corner of the head, extending to the shoulders or mid-back. Draw another line on the other side of the head. Re-trace the top outline of the head to finish the hair.
- 3). Draw the neck by adding a short vertical line that extends from the bottom of the head. Draw a second line on the other side of the head. These two lines should create a neck that sits in the center of the head. The neck should be about half as wide as the head. Draw a horizontal line at the bottom of the neck. This line should move through the bottom ends of the neck and should extend past the neck.
- 4). Extend the right shoulder into a new line. The new line should form an angle of about 45 degrees with the shoulders and should fall just past the hips. Turn the line into an arm by drawing another line on the inside of this line. Add a small hand. Draw the left arm on the other side of the body.
- 5). Draw an hour-glass shape from the shoulders. This shape should create the torso and hips of the fairy. The chest should be slightly thinner than the shoulders while the hips will be about shoulder-width. From the hips, draw two long legs. Each leg should be about as wide as the torso and head combined. Each leg bends slightly at the halfway point--the knee. At the end of the leg, draw a thin, oval foot.
- 6). Add a fairy dress by drawing a u-shaped neckline at the top of the neck. Draw a line that extends from the middle-top of the shoulder to the middle-bottom of the shoulder to create the strap. Extend this line along the curve of the body until it is slightly past the hips. Draw a similar line on the other side of the body and connect the bottom of each line with a horizontal line that moves across the thighs.
- 7). Draw the fairy wings. For simple wings, draw a curved triangle that extends from the shoulders to the waist. Attach the top triangle to a second triangle that extends from the waist to the mid-thigh. The top triangle should be almost perpendicular to the body while the bottom triangle forms a diagonal with the body. Curve the triangle and draw another wing on the other side of the body. To make the wing more complex, add petal-like curves.
