How to Repair an Aluminum Line

    • 1). Put on gloves and safety glasses. Clean the affected area of the aluminum line with a wire brush thoroughly.

    • 2). Heat the aluminum line with an acetylene or propane torch for five to seven seconds. Hold the torch about 4 to 6 inches away from the aluminum line to heat it without melting it or cutting into it.

    • 3). Hold a line of aluminum weld or flux near the hole in the aluminum line. Wait for it to start melting over the hole and become bright and shiny. It will fill the hole and patch the immediate surrounding area.

    • 4). Take the torch and aluminum weld away from the line. Turn the acetylene or propane torch off at this juncture and carefully set aside the aluminum weld or flux so you don't burn yourself. Wait about five minutes for the weld or flux to set, then polish with a microfiber cloth. The repair should match the line's color when it cools completely.
