How to Detect Antivirus
- 1). Locate the task bar on your computer. It is situated at the lower-right corner of your desktop screen. Apart from showing time and date, it also shows you icons of different processes running on your computer. The icons vary depending on the antivirus installed on your computer. Bring your mouse cursor near the icon. Do not click on the icon; just let it hover on top of the icon. A small text box will pop up. This box will reflect the current state of your antivirus.
- 2). Go to "Start," "All Programs," "Accessories," "System Tools," "Security Center." Press "Enter." A new window will pop up displaying all antivirus software working on your computer. (This procedure is for Windows XP SP2 users only.)
- 3). Go to "Start," "Programs." A list of programs installed on your computer will show up. Select your antivirus software program from this list. Press "Enter." The antivirus program's window will pop up. You can easily detect the functioning of your antivirus from this window.
- 4). Find the .exe file (executable file) of your antivirus. (Search on the antivirus program's website or by using the software manual.) Press "Ctrl" + "Alt" + "Del." A new window (task manager) will open up. Click the "Processes" tab under this window. The list of processes working on your computer will be shown to you. Search for the .exe file of your antivirus that you searched for earlier. If the .exe file is present in this list of processes, the antivirus is present and working on your computer.
