How to Build a Homemade Putting Course
- 1). Layout a frame in your desired shape for the hole using two-by-four beams and secure the frame with screws.
- 2). Cut a swatch of artificial turf to match the shape of the frame and lay heavy objects on the turf to flatten it.
- 3). Support the interior of the frame with two-by-four planks cut to run the long direction of the frame. There should be approximately 16 inches between support planks.
- 4). Cut plywood pieces to match the frame and secure with screws into the border and the support beams.
- 5). Cut a hole 4 1/8 inches in diameter with the hole saw.
- 6). Sand the inside of the hole until the cup barely fits inside the hole.
- 7). Place a piece of scrap wood over the putting cup and hammer on the wood with a mallet until the top of the cup is flush with the top of the plywood.
- 8). Roll the turf out flat over the top of the putting frame.
- 9). Unroll 1 foot of turf at one end and apply glue to the top of the exposed plywood, then lay the turf flat and place heavy items on the turf.
- 10
Unroll the turf from the other end when the glue dries, and secure the next foot of turf. Repeat until the entire turf is secured. - 11
Cut out the turf over the putting cup. - 12
Secure any obstacles you wish to include, if you are making a miniature golf hole by screwing through the turf and into the support beams. - 13
Construct a frame of PVC to match the dimensions of the hole, then secure with screws through the PVC to create a lip on your green and stop balls from rolling off.
