Piping Music Into Your Helmet While Mountain Biking

Have you ever seen a mountain bike rider with an MP three player Velcro'ed to the top of their helmet? The first time I saw this I was jogging in the California Mountains overlooking the ocean right near the coastline and all of a sudden this mountain bike comes whizzing by me.
As he got within about 50 yards he yelled something and I moved off the trail, and he went by at about 45 miles an hour, and it was a one-person small trail.
I never saw him again, but I noticed when I saw the MP3 player Velcro'ed to the top of his helmet and I laughed.
He appeared to be quite fearless on his mountain bike and as I walked on the trail further, I thought I saw out of the corner of my eye what looked like a bike cresting the mountaintop to my right.
It might have been him, but I cannot say for sure.
All I can say is that, if was him he must have been listening to Led Zeppelin, because it wasn't more than about five minutes later and that Hill on that trail felt like it went straight up.
Later, I came to the conclusion that if you want to ride your mountain bike without getting very tired and do so at high rates of speed on scary little trails, then it makes sense to play your most inspirational and motivational music as you ride.
I would've loved to have asked the fearless rider of that mountain bike if piping music into his helmet gave him an advantage against the mountain.
Although when I think about it, I don't really need to ask them, because I'm pretty sure it did.
Please consider all this.
