Preparation

• 1). Design your poster or flyer on the computer or draw it by hand. Make sure the content is appropriate for school and does not contain any derogatory or offensive language or images. Just do a rough draft at first, since the design is apt to change after discussing it with the principal.
  
  
• 2). Make an appointment to meet with your principal about the flyer or poster. If the advertisement is school related, you can usually get approval from a teacher or assistant principal. However, if your advertisement is not school related, you must get approval from the principal or dean.
  
  
• 3). Find out where you can tape the images around the school. Many schools have specific bulletin boards for advertisements, while others allow posters to be taped onto walls or windows.
  
  
• 4). Make any changes to the advertisement or poster as requested by the principal or teacher.
  
  

Taping

• 1). Purchase a repositionable masking tape, or a type of tape that does not leave sticky residue behind. Cut a piece of tape between 3 and 4 inches long.
  
  
• 2). Fold the tape in half, with the sticky side facing out, and join the ends of the tape to create a loop.
  
  
• 3). Stick the tape loop onto one corner of the backside of your advertisement. Repeat the process for the remaining three corners of the advertisement.
  
  
• 4). Stick the advertisement on a smooth, flat surface such as glass, a smooth wall or a locker. The tape will not adhere as well to surfaces like brick or stone.
