Themes

• Choose a theme for your foyer. You can use this theme throughout your entire home or only in selected rooms. There are many themes to choose from such as country, modern or Early American.
  
  

Colors

• Use colors that coordinate with your theme. For a country theme use a soft yellow or pale blue. A modern theme would include metallic colors as well as reds. The colors used in an Early American theme would include browns, taupe and creams.
  
  

Borders

• Paint a border on the walls of your foyer. To give the illusion of height in your foyer, add the border close to the ceiling. For another type of visual interest, paint a border at chair rail height.
  
  

Accent Wall

• Paint an accent wall in your foyer. Select a color for one wall that will coordinate with paint color of the other walls in your foyer. Add a mural to your accent wall that will match the décor of your foyer.
  
  

Stencils

• You can use stencils to add depth and dimension to your walls. Use floral stencils in a country-themed foyer. Try shapes such as circles and triangles for a modern theme. Stencils to use for an Early American theme would include old farmhouses and forest landscapes.
