Internet Marketing and Competition

Competition: This article is about internet marketing/competition as applied to keyword use and especially why it is so important to internet affiliate marketing.
There are four areas to consider as you select the keywords you want to use in your website or your promotional article.
They are as follows: 1.
The first is traffic.
Traffic refers to the number of "clicks" you get to your website.
2.
The second is relevance which I have written about in a previous article entitled "Ways to Increase Targeted Website Traffic Free.
" Relevance is how your keywords and your article relate to your website.
3.
The third is competition which is the focus of this article.
4.
The fourth consideration is known as commerciality.
Commerciality refers to the value of your words as determined by Google's cost-per-click (CPC) analysis using its AdWords tool.
To better understand the concept of a keyword search you should know the difference between "short-tail" and "long-tail" words.
A short-tail word is one such as "sleeping bags" while a long-tail word is one such as "children's Toddler sleeping bags.
" Competition refers to the number of searches made for your keywords by search engines.
There are several search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN,Bing, etc).
To find the number of searches made on Google for example, simply go to Google and type your selection of words into the search box.
When you receive the response to your query you will see at the top, the number of responses received by the search engine containing your selected words.
The responses may not be exact to your selected words, but are made up of references in similarity to them.
If your competition is high, there will be millions of responses included in the number.
Your initial search on the tool should be for short-tail words.
The tool will return short-tail words as well as long-tail words.
From this list you may select your long-tail phrase based upon the traffic it would generate.
The tool will provide you with the percentage of competition, the number of global searches and the number of local searches.
Your competition is determined by the amount of traffic received by your selected words or those similar to yours.
Because you don't want to compete with extremely high competition, you should choose words that are ranked lower in the number, but not at the bottom.
You do want decent traffic (medium), but not high and not too low.
Summary: Because you need to be familiar with internet marketing/competition, the use of keywords and the four areas of importance involved, you will find it imperative to understand each area including the one explained in this article, COMPETITION.
