    • 1). Put your DVD-A disc into your computer's attached DVD drive.

    • 2). Download a computer program that is capable of ripping the audio off of DVD discs. There are many different options out there, both free and paid. Handbrake (see References) is an example of a free program of this type. Xilisoft's DVD Ripper is an example of a program you'll have to pay for. Once you've downloaded the installation file for the program, you need to install it on your computer.

    • 3). Open the DVD ripping program you've downloaded and installed.

    • 4). Click "Source." Select your DVD drive from the list of folders that appears on screen. This will tell the program that you'll be ripping from the disc in the drive.

    • 5). Under "Output File Type," select "WAV." This is a type of uncompressed, high quality computer audio file.

    • 6). Check the boxes next to all of the tracks on the disc that you want to rip. They will all be checked by default, so if you want to convert all of the songs on the disc to WAV leave them all checked. You can preview a track by pressing the "Play" button in the "Preview" portion of the window.

    • 7). Click "Start." This will convert the DVD-A audio tracks to WAV files, based on your settings specifications. They will be copied to your computer in the location on your hard drive that is listed under the "Output File Directory" category heading.
