• 1). Click "Start", "Run", "cmd", then "OK". This takes you to the command prompt.
  
  
• 2). Type "netsh winsock reset", then "Enter". Omit the quotation marks.
  
  
• 3). Restart the computer.
  
  

Automatic Winsock Fix

• 1). If you do have limited access to the Internet, go to http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=9662461. Go down to the "Fix It" link and click "Run" in the download box.
  
  
• 2). Once Fix It is downloaded and started, follow the directions in the Wizard interface.
  
  
• 3). If you have no connectivity, you can download this fix from another computer and save it to CD, floppy disk or thumb drive.

• 1). Download Winsock XP Fix from http://majorgeeks.com/WinSock_XP_Fix_d4372.html or from http://www.snapfiles.com/get/winsockxpfix.html. It fixes corrupted registry entries related to Winsock.
  
  
• 2). Install the program, run "Reg Backup," then click "Fix."
  
  
• 3). Restart the computer.
