eBook Writing As a Means of Promoting Your Products

EBook writing is a very poplar way of promoting your products, but in order to be successful it must conform to certain unwritten rules.
The eBook must be well written and easy to read, and your choice of paragraph size and font is very important in its perceived ease of use.
However, more than anything else, it is not so much the topic, content and price that will determine its success or otherwise but the way in which it is promoted.
Some eBooks sell at $97 when there are others online offering significantly more value at less than half that price.
However, they have sold at that price because of the expert marketing and the way the book and its value have been presented.
There are some notable examples of this online, such as The Rich Jerk, who sold an eBook on internet marketing for $97 that contained less useful content than many others online at $47 or even less.
So it is not so much the content that is important than its marketing, so let's focus on each of these.
With regard to content, a lot depends on the topic of the book.
In the case of alternative therapy or natural healing topics, the content is likely to be more important that with an eBook on general internet marketing.
The same is true of any health product.
Designing the eBook First you should determine your chapter headings.
eBook writing takes a lot of planning and you should first decide on the main aspects of the topic and then split them into chapters.
Now draft in the main headings for each chapter.
Once you have done that you should be able to start writing the content under each heading.
Your paragraphs should be no more than 3 - 4 sentences, and approximately 5-6 lines maximum.
Choose a readable font such as Verdana or Arial, and write in either 1.
5 or double spacing, whatever looks best.
Make the font size largish or your eBook might appear too short - check out other eBooks online and copy what they do.
You will also need an attractive book cover, and you can either design that yourself, use one of the many free templates you can find online or pay to have it done: a professional eBook cover can cost from $97 upwards, and will be provided in a number of sizes so you can use it on your sales page and also as a thumbnail and of course, for the eBook itself.
The final format should be in PDF.
In Word 2007, you can save your file as a PDF file, but you will have to download a free version of a PDF writer if you are using anything else.
PDF 995 is a good option, and free versions are available online.
The reason for PDF is that it looks professional, can be read by anybody, unlike a Word file that is useful only to Microsoft users, and also, unless they have a professional PDF application, it cannot be edited or changed by others.
Promoting Your Products eBook writing is not an end in itself: no matter how good your book, it will be worth nothing to you if you cannot sell it.
Promoting your products is one of the most essential aspects of internet marketing whether your eBook discusses how to make money online or how to use hypnotherapy to stop smoking.
An alternative therapy product, for example, should be promoted on your alternative therapy website, and if you have a section on Reiki, then that is where a Reiki Masters product should be promoted.
However, you should focus your promotion on pages specifically designed for the purpose.
Your energy healing product, for example, should be offered in a folder focusing just on that, containing not only a sales page for the product, but also a squeeze page to build a list of potential customers interested enough to offer you their contact details, and also a content page offering information on the topic of your eBook.
Back-Sales and Upselling EBook writing is not the final objective in your marketing campaign: that is promoting your product and selling it, and to make even more money you should also try to have another product that you can back-sell to customers that have purchased the eBook - perhaps a course on Reiki or holistic healing, for example.
You could also offer what are known as upsells, involving an enhanced version of the product for a few dollars more.
It takes a bit of imagination to devise these products, but most modern internet marketers now have the basic product, and then others they promote as additional connected products or as enhancements of it.
Finally...
EBook writing is a good way to transfer your expert knowledge into a sellable format, and if you know how to design, write and promote an eBook you are most of the way towards having a viable product that you can sell online in additional to your primary product: your professional services.
Many practitioners of alternative therapies of various types can make money over and above what they do on a daily basis by devising products that can be sold online, and eBook writing is one of these options that many have found to be extremely profitable.
If you are also adept at promoting your products, there appears to be no reason at all why your eBook should not earn you a very useful additional income.
