Uttama Puthiran means a very good son in Tamil and is a remake of telugu blockbuster ‘Ready'. Uthama Puthiran film centers on a free-go rich and a lucky youngster Shiva (Casted by Dhanush) hailing from a rich family headed by Raghupathi (Casted by Bhagyaraj), who is well pampered by his family members. He becomes a redundant resident at home after assists an elope of Kalpana (Cated by Shriya) with her lover from the wedding ceremony secretly. As the movie progress to help a friend, Shiva tries to kidnap Pooja (Casted by Genelia D'Souza) from a forced wedding. Afterwards he realizes the mistaken identity, But he falls into love with her at the first sight itself. The story line proceeds with a kind of a Tom and Gerry sequence and takes a different direction as Shiva understands Pooja wanted to fly for USA to escapee from the clutches of her deadly uncles. Uttama Puthiran in short is all about how Shiva saves his belle form this speculative situation and hardened bad guys and wins Pooja's heart and saves her from her uncles, the super villains.

The Mentor of Shiva Emotional Ekambaram (cated by Vivek) keeps you awake from boredom and many logic-less sequences and hats off to Vivek for returning back to form and he has done his fantastic job for this movie.

Dhanush once again proves his capacity of shouldering a whole film, no matter how strong is the script. His strong body language, crafty smiles and strong delivery of dialogues has made the film strong even can confirm as a sole reason for the viewers to stay on watching the film. Genelia has just repeated the Santhosh Subramanian's cast and looks very sweet and pretty. Her dressing sense in this film was really classy and hats of to the designer.
