Following a highly controversial tournament which will most likely be remembered for its marketing blunder surrounding the €5million guaranteed event, Ole Schemion was yesterday announced as the champion of the last ever Partouche Poker Tour Main Event. Despite much controversy and bad publicity, the main event took place as scheduled yesterday which saw the German Ole Schemion defeat 573 players to bag an impressive €1,172,850.

As the €8,500 buy-in main event reached its six-handed final table, Karen Sarkisyan was in pole position and Italian Marcello Marigliano in third position. Also in contention were France's Fabrice Touil, American Dan O´Brien and Australia's Aaron Lim.

First to be defeated was Fabrice Touil taking home €280,841 followed by Marcello Marigliano who finished in 5th place bagging €336,123 after his pocket Jacks found the pocket Kings of Schemion.

Dan O'Brien, the last American of the tournament was eliminated in forth position as Shemion's Ace-King defeated O'Brien's pocket nines. Finishing in fourth place, Dan O'Brien took home €429,736 which is the biggest cash win of his poker tournament.

Going into the final three positions were Karen Sarisyan, Ole Schemion and Aaron Lim. Lim had began the tournament with the shortest stack and successfully climbed as others were eliminated. However he was eliminated in third when Schemion revealed his pair of Aces against Lim's Big Slick.  Aaron Lim took home €524,617.

Battling it out to be crowned PPT Main Event Poker Champion, Sarkisyan went all-in with Ah-9c on a 7h-8h-9h-6c board but Ole Schemion revealed a Kh-2h hand and a made flush. This latest win for Ole Schemion means he now has $1,781,258 in live tournament cashes to his name.

The future of the Partouche Poker Tour was in uncertainty when tournament organisers revealed they had a short-fall in prize money of €700,000 and reduced the ‘guaranteed' €5million prize fund to €4.2million. After a media back-lash, the company were forced to admit their wrong doing when several items of evidence were revealed suggesting the event was in fact marketed with a guaranteed €5million prize fund. The company were forced to make up the shortfall. The CEO of Groupe Partouche has since confirmed that the 2012 Partouche Poker Tour is set to be the last. In a statement he revealed "I have heard, I have seen and I have been told that what Groupe Partouche was doing was not sufficient, almost dishonest. The Partouche Poker Tour bears my name and my family's name. After 40 years in this business, reading 'Partouche is a liar, Partouche is a cheater,' this I cannot accept, neither can my teams."
