Taser C2 and The Phazzer Dragon - The Case For Social Responsibility

103 49
Social Responsibility as defined from a business sense holds that "a business should not function amorally" but instead should contribute to the welfare of their communities.
Referencing social responsibility as it relates to one of many products for self-defense options.
The Taser C2 comes to mind with it's mandatory activation and registration requirement before the unit can operate.
The Taser C2 comes with these procedures that are inclusive of the registration and well should be, in an age where crime is so prevalent in today's society.
Although there is a fee of $9.
95 for the background check, in pales in comparison to the potential harm that could be done to society without this important safeguard in place.
Could you imagine what would happen if the background check were not required? Imagine the crazies and criminal minded, having this kind of device readily available at the click of a mouse, delivered to their front door, on any given day.
It could be compared somewhat to the lethal equivalent of having no background check requirement for firearms.
Yes, the criminal minded do have access to illegal firearms, but just imagine how much more access to firearms they would have without a registration and background check requirement.
In this instance, the background check standing alone, is an effective deterrent.
There is a self-defense device, similar in operation to the Taser C2, except in one major category, the Background Check.
The competing product by Phazzer Technologies, called the (Phazzer Dragon), does not require what should be a socially accountable background check policy that subsequently puts highly effective and potentially dangerous stun devices in the hands of law abiding citizens only.
The Phazzer Dragon makes claims of effectiveness that are almost identical to those of the Taser C2.
With claims of this nature being made, Social Responsibility screams for a more accountable means to help prevent this type of non-lethal self-defense weapon from falling into the wrong hands.
Once in the hands of someone criminally minded, a non-lethal self-defense device can quickly become a tool of destruction.
After all, most law-abiding citizens don't mind paying a small registration fee if it serves the greater good of the community.
Crime is prevalent in most every city in the United States and we seldom hear about crimes involving stun gun devices.
Without the implementation of the proper safeguards to aid in protecting citizens from the damaging consequences from misuse of very potent stun devices, a company may well be unwittingly (though not purposefully), inviting a new weapon to the arsenal of the criminal minded.
