How to Make a Hemp Rope Bracelet
- 1). Cut one piece of hemp string, about 6 feet in length.
- 2). Fold the string so that one strand is about 1 foot long, and the other side is about 5 feet long. Pinch at the fold to create a small loop.
- 3). Fold the loop down and across the strands, then pull it through the circle you’ve made to create a small knot. The loop remains about the knot.
- 4). Secure the hemp by clipping the loop to a clipboard or taping it to your work surface.
- 5). Arrange the strands so that the long strand is on the left. Hold the short strand in your right hand and the long strand in your left hand.
- 6). Cross the long strand over the short strand, creating a loop. Pull the long strand under the short strand, and then through the loop you created. Pull the strand taut and snug it up against the knot near the top loop.
- 7). Continue knotting in this manner, making a loop with the long strand on the left, then pulling it through itself. These knots will form a spiral pattern that is the bracelet. Always pull the knots tight, and always knot from the same direction. The spiral will happen on its own.
- 8). Check the length of the bracelet by holding it against your wrist every now and then. Wrap it around to see whether it’s long enough.
- 9). Hold the two strands together and tie a second overhand knot, as you did to create the first loop at the top, when you’re finished making your bracelet.
- 10
Tie the bracelet to your wrist by slipping one of the strands through the loop at the top, then tying a knot. Cut off any excess hemp.
