How to Figure Out the Ratio of Staff Turnover
- 1). Calculate the average number of employees within the time period you are researching. Add together the number of people working at the beginning of the time period and the number of people working at the end of the time period. Divide this number in half. For example, at the beginning there are 50 workers, at the end there are 30. Your average would be 40 employees.
- 2). Calculate how many people left employment during your time period, often the fiscal year. Include both people who quit and were terminated in this number.
- 3). Multiply the number of people who separated from employment by 100. Divide this number by the average number of people in employment over the time period. This final number is the percentage of turnover.
