A Question For Republican Voters Out There

103 204
Here is an open request to any republicans out there; why are you voting Republican? The campaign is over and regardless of the results, learning why voters choose one candidate over another is a great examination in understanding behaviours.
The Republican Voter is essentially made up of 2 unique segments of the population.
Unique in that these groups should be at complete odds with each other; much more so than the Democratic Voter.
Taxes When it comes to the wearlthiest 1% of the country, it is easy to understand why a large portion would vote Republican.
Many of the tax platforms put forward by the 'right' largely favor those with investments (Stocks, Bonds, Real estate) and higher wages.
What is hard to understand is why a blue-collar voter would be in favour of this portion of the party's platform.
Is the lower income Republican voter adept in the inner workings of Trickle-Downeconomics? And if they are, based on the history of this theory, why would this voter be in favour of it? 'One of Us' Another notable difference appears in the perception of who is more in touch with their constituents.
Somehow, Republicans have usually been the first party to better associate themselves with 'Joe the plumber'.
Despite the fact most Republican candidates can really provide no basis for this.
'W' came from the same ivy league schools as the 'liberal elites'.
John McCain comes from a long line a Navy admirals, clearly not a family tree linked to blue collar life.
Yet, the Republicans always paint the left as out of touch.
During the 2008 campaign, those who favoured Sarah Palin did, for the most part, because voters said they could relate to her.
Not because of her credentials.
Values The commitment to freedoms (War on terror), choosing against "Choice", supporting the troops or the right to bear arms.
"Values" could be the tie that binds the lower & middle class republican voter to a candidate.
If this is the case, why continue to vote for a party based on these values, when they themselves have shown no sign of carrying the same values, but only when they seek your vote? Ask Evangelicals how they were taken advantage of.
The 'blue collar' voter may blindly support the troops or their leader, but what about when you leader has lied?At what point do you ask, "are my beliefs being taken advantage of"?
