The Gd880 Mini From Lg
Neither a Smartphone or a fashion phone, the new LG GD880 Mini does a great job of pitching itself neatly between these two camps, thus offering a great, compact handset that does not lack in terms of features or functionality.
Lets start by taking a look at the first impressions of this handset, and they are certainly good. LG have bucked the trend of curvier handsets by moving in totally the opposite direction. Thus the GD880 Mini is quite possibly the squarest handset you will see this year, and this is no bad thing. It certainly stands out from its competitors, its straight lines and right angles making the phone look ultra modern. The lack of physical buttons on the front of the handset help maintain this profile, whilst the brushed metal and black plastic colour scheme also keep things looking very sleek. Measuring 102 x 47.6 x 10.6mm and weighing 99 grammes, LG have done a good job of making this handset a small as they can without needing to sacrifice features. And this point is perfectly illustrated by the inclusion of a great 3.2" screen within the compact chassis of this model. Despite not being AMOLED technology, the TFT screen still produces outstanding images with an impressive screen resolution of 480 x 854 and a capability of displaying 256 thousand colours. This touchscreen support multi touch, meaning the excellent pinch and zoom feature is included, and a scratch resistant glass is also used, helping to minimise on marks throughout the handsets life.
One thing that the LG GD880 Mini certainly is is well connected. Perhaps an acknowledgement that internet connectivity is perhaps THE most important feature on any modern mobile phone, LG have made this model fully equipped. 3G, GPRS and EDGE technologies are all supported, meaning the user is kept constantly up to date when on the move. Push Notification for e mails is a great addition. The average phone user is not always on the go, so WiFi is also included, resulting in quicker access when the user is in range of his or her own router, or indeed in one of the thousands of WiFi hotspots found in any town.
A 5 Million pixel camera is included on the GD880 Mini. This camera produces good clean images and has a host of useful features that include both auto and manual focus, geo tagging and smile/face recognition. Results a great and thanks to Twitter and Facebook apps being included, subsequent photos can be directly uploaded to such sites.
LG have done a very good job of producing a handset that seems to cover most bases that the average phone user requires. The GD880 Mini not only looks great, but is compact and features such as the great screen and excellent multi media facilites ensure that this handset will be incredibly successful for the manafacturer.
